Before You Arrive

Before your first physiotherapy session, we need to receive a referral form from your veterinary practice to ensure that your pet is suitable for physiotherapy. We will also request a copy of your patient’s full medical history to give us a better level of understanding of your pet’s needs.

Getting Started

When you arrive for your first session, your physiotherapist will assess your pet and select the most appropriate form of therapy to meet their needs. This might be massage, manipulation, laser or ultrasound therapy.

Our first session includes:

  • Getting to know your pet
  • Evaluation of the pet’s veterinary history sent in by your vet alongside their Veterinary Referral Form. View Form
  • Health check of your pet to ensure that they are suitable and safe for us to start physiotherapy.
  • Palpation (feeling) and measuring muscles (depending on your pet’s condition).
  • Evaluation of your pet’s gait and planning of the physiotherapy required to help their problem.
  • Adding in extra techniques as they are needed (Ultrasound or Laser therapy) either on their own or alongside massage therapy.
  • Exercises which we do together in the session and which we will demonstrate until you are confident to continue at home.

We like it if you stay with your pet for physiotherapy so you can see what to do to maintain great progress at home.
